During the 1830’s Music Halls opened their doors offering entertainment for the working class. By 1865 there were thirty-two Music Halls in London and reached it peak by 1878 with seventy-eight venues. Music Halls continued through the interwar period, but no longer as the single dominant form of popular entertainment, the arrival of cinema and the gramophone damaged it enormously. In 1914 the London government enacted that drinking be banished from the auditorium into a separate bar and in 1923 even the separate bar was abolished with only theatres being exempt from this rule. To many it was considered that this was driven by the upper classes to deprive the working classes of their pleasures. This experience is set at a magical time during the early 1900’s when theatre was on the increase and although the Music Halls were closing down the best and biggest were still going strong. This theatrical extravaganza takes place in the mythical ‘GATTI'S CASCADE CLUB’ the place the entertainers would go to get THEIR entertainment! Gatti's Cascade Club isn’t like any other place you'll have been to before! It’s a staged show (a theatrical performance with a difference) get dressed up, sing-along and dance around.
